STR-SpeechTech Supplies StarCaster Upgrades to US Army

VICTORIA, BC, Canada – November 2014 - STR-SpeechTech Ltd.’s 25th year of incorporation has been a banner year. Working with Systems Atlanta Inc. (SAI), STR has completed the supply of StarCaster® ATIS Version 5 upgrades to 30 US Army Airfields. Additional deliveries of StarCaster ATIS Version 5 upgrades to the US military are anticipated in the upcoming year.

ATIS (Automated Terminal Information Service) broadcasts inform pilots of non-control information, including runways in use, current weather, field conditions and notices to airmen.

The upgrades in StarCaster ATIS Version 5 include improvements that allow the product to be easily configured by users. “StarCaster continues to be a time-saver that air traffic personnel can trust,” says Craig Dickson, STR's President and CEO. “These upgrades add to the growing list of StarCaster systems throughout the world that are relied upon daily to produce clear aviation broadcasts with minimal human involvement.”

STR has worked closely with SAI since 2008, when SAI became STR's authorized distributor to US military customers. SAI incorporates STR's StarCaster ATIS and Range Information Service (RIS) products into their Integrated Information Dissemination & Display System (IDS), offering users such as air traffic controllers, dispatchers and range operations personnel access to these products on a single platform. To date, more than 90 StarCaster ATIS and RIS systems have been integrated with SAI's IDS platforms and deployed at Air Force Bases, Army Ranges and Airfields in the US and overseas.
